Symphony (Vector Illustration Design) Cello 2007

This typographic illustration was created using Adobe Illustrator's gradient mesh tool in addition to multiple layers and blend modes. The enormous file size seemed to create some rendering issues that did not translate very well in the above picture; however, the main idea was to create a typographic illustration of the word 'Symphony' for use in a program cover design for a fictitious event. One of the most challenging aspects of this project was designing the cello based on limited resources and therefore creating elements without being able to identify the anatomically correct parts that a cello actually has. Challenging designs help increase knowledge in software commands rarely used, but this particular design expanded knowledge on multiple levels including path offsetting, blend modes (i.e. Screen & Multiply), linear gradient angles (in degrees) and the gradient mesh tool.
